COLUMBUS, Ohio — On Friday, Sept. 5 at 8 p.m., WBNS-10TV will participate in the airing of "Stand Up To Cancer," a nationwide simulcast aimed at raising funds for cancer research and treatment.

In addition, 10TV has taken the opportunity to bring this initiative to a local level through a partnership with Mount Carmel, OhioHealth and The James Cancer hospitals, as well as The Mark H. Zangmeister Center.

All throughout the week, beginning Monday, Sept. 1, 10TV's Heather Pick and Andrea Cambern will provide stories about cancer-related issues.

On Thursday, Sept. 4, doctors from the four partnering medical facilities will host a phone panel, as well as a web chat on 10TV.com, that will enable viewers to ask questions and obtain further information about cancer. In addition, during the national "Stand Up To Cancer" broadcast on Sept. 5, 10TV viewers will hear special messages provided by partner representatives relating to local efforts.

"Dedication to cancer education and prevention has been a passionate undertaking at 10TV," said Tom Griesdorn, president and general manager. "This is a disease for which education and awareness are critical to survival. As Central Ohio's News Leader, we're thrilled to partner with these fine health care institutions to raise local awareness of the efforts being undertaken throughout Central Ohio and how we can all work together as a community to fight it. If, through this effort we can save even one life, we would consider it to be a significant accomplishment."
