The 67-year-old singer's voice sounded hoarse and raspy right from the start of the concert, 10TV News reported.
Diamond barely made it through the concert but never mentioned anything to the audience about his voice. Several fans contacted 10TV and 10TV.com about their displeasure at the concert.
Many fans were disappointed and left the arena early and asked for their money back, 10TV News reported.
Arena representatives said they received plenty of phone calls and e-mails about the performance and were talking with Diamond's manager and promoter about the complaints.
"We're taking names and phone numbers and contact information from those people who contacted us with a concern," said Michael Gatto, the arena's general manager. "(We) did our best on the night of the show to also accommodate those people."
Tickets for the concert ranged from $20 to $120.
According to a press release issued Tuesday by the Schottenstein Center, fans who purchased tickets by phone or Internet should contact Ticketmaster Customer Service at 614-431-3600 regarding possible refunds.
All other tickets must be returned to the point of purchase, the release said.
Also on Tuesday, Diamond released a statement on his Web site asking fans in Columbus to forgive his performance.
"Dear fans in Columbus," Diamond wrote, "Please give me a few days to figure out a way to make it up to you. I haven't let you down before and I won't let you down now.
Until you hear from me again remember, You are the sun. I am the moon. You are the words. I am the tune. Forgive me. I love you. Neil."
