COLUMBUS, Ohio — A consumer study group has warned parents about new dangers with lead in toys, 10TV's Karina Nova reported Wednesday.

Popular toys, including a Barbie bike kit and a Disney Tinkerbell necklac,e tested with high levels of lead, and above federal limits, Nova reported.

The Center for Environment Health tested 250 children's products, and found seven that exceeded federal lead limits.

Anna Villena said she expects the products to be safe but takes extra precautions for her daughter.

"It's actually quite a big concern, we're always looking on the internet to see if paint we use, because we use a lot of wooden materials for her toys," Villena said.

Toy makers Disney and Mattel dispute the study findings, saying they were tested and complied with safety regulations.

Despite the most recent findings, experts said following a 2007 lead lay, toy makers are doing a better job of making safer toys, Nova reported.

Most of those items were not on the shelves of several local stores 10TV contacted, Nova reported.

The toys with lead included:

  • Dora the Explorer Activity Tote
  • MSY Faded Glory Rebecca Shoes
  • Paula Fuschia Open-Toed Shoes
  • Reversible Croco Belt
  • Barbie Bike Flair Accessory Kit
  • Kids Poncho
  • Disney Fairies Silvermist's Water Lilly Necklace
