HILLIARD, Ohio — Stay-at-home mom Dana Davis found a recipe for success in her kitchen — not on the stovetop, but on her laptop.

Davis created a Web site to help families find dining-out deals from restaurants, 10TV's Tracy Townsend reported.

At KidsMealDeals.com, visitors enter a ZIP code, the day of the week and the number of miles they are willing to drive, and they receive a list of restaurants with family specials.

Davis said she created the site because parents often aren't aware that many restaurants have reduced prices on children's meals during certain hours or on certain days of the week. Families may miss dining out because they think the cost is too high.

"It's amazing what a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches can add up to and keep you from going out to eat," Davis said.

It's not just families that benefit from Davis' Web site. Restaurant operators said it's good for them, too.

Restaurants that provide listings on KidsMealDeals.com have discovered more customers coming through the doors.

For example, Wednesday is deal day at Hoggy's Barbecue — one free child's meal for every adult entree.

"(Being on the Web site) increased business a lot on Wednesday at all locations," said Kyle Seymour of Hoggy's Dublin restaurant. "The servers like it. You get kids running around with balloons, and we actually have a magician at this Dublin location as well."

During tough economic times, finding deals on children's meals is allowing families to dine out more.
