John Fortney

10TV News Anchor/Reporter

John Fortney co-anchors the weekend newscasts with Jeff Hogan and is a reporter for 10TV News HD.

Prior to his arrival at WBNS-TV, Fortney was Ohio News Network's first anchor in July 1996.  There, he anchored Ohio Tonight, Primetime Ohio and ONN's weekly political talk show, Capitol Square. 

Before joining ONN, John worked at WTAP-TV in Parkersburg, W.Va. as news anchor, weeknight weather anchor and a nightside reporter/photographer.  He was hired at the station when he was a junior at Marietta College and four months later was the station's weeknight weatherman.

After graduating, Fortney was hired full time and worked his way up to reporting, producing, anchoring and shooting his own stories.

John has covered an array of stories, including reporting on the Ohio National Guard mission to the Gulf Coast, riding with the Taskforce Buckeye convoy.  He also anchored all of ONN's election night specials, including the award-winning coverage of Ohio's 2002 general election. 

He has moderated political debates for Ohio's Supreme Court, Congressional and U.S. Senate races.  He also anchored ONN's live coverage of the 9/11 attack.

A Vincent, Ohio, native and a graduate of Marietta College, Fortney enjoys golf, muscle cars and weight training.
