Worcester man pleads not guilty to manslaughter

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Worcester man has been held on $100,000 bail after pleading not guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of a teen who suffered a severe asthma attack after a fight.

The Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/1lJp3pd ) reports that 19-year-old Michael Ventura is one of three men facing charges in the September 2013 death of 18-year-old Robert Walker.

Prosecutors say Walker, of Blackstone, was involved in an altercation with the suspects at a party in Worcester.

Authorities say Walker was chased into the woods after being hit in the head with a bottle, stabbed and kicked. An autopsy determined he died as a result of a severe asthma attack "complicated by physical altercation," and the death was ruled a homicide.

Ventura's layer says his client's statements to police should be dismissed.
