BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (AP) — Ohio investigators were working overnight inside a Dayton-area Wal-Mart store to reconstruct last month's fatal shooting of gun-wielding suspect by police.
Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation personnel were working in the Beavercreek store early Wednesday to reconstruct the shooting of 22-year-old John Crawford III, who was killed by police Aug. 5 after they say he was waving a weapon that turned out to be an air rifle.
The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/1um4OOT ) reports the 24-hour store was shut down at 2 a.m. Wednesday by investigators. Gunshots could be heard from inside as they worked.
A special prosecutor will convene a grand jury on Sept. 22 to hear evidence in the case and determine if charges are warranted. Crawford's supporters claim the shooting was not justified.
