Capsized boat hampers Ohio river search

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ohio (AP) — A capsized rescue boat has delayed the search for an 8-year-old boy who fell into a southwest Ohio river two days ago.

Nobody was injured when the boat capsized during the search of the Great Miami River on Tuesday. But the incident delayed the search, which was called off at about 8 p.m. Tuesday but was expected to resume Wednesday.

The Cincinnati Enquirer ( ) reports the boy fell into the river about 4 p.m. Monday while his family fished at the mouth of the Whitewater River in Elizabethtown, west of Cincinnati near the Ohio-Indiana line.

More than 70 emergency personnel deployed helicopters, fan boats and sonar to search a 2-mile stretch of the river. Crews were hampered by heavy rain and thunderstorms Tuesday.
