UK police: Missing boy with tumor may be in Spain

LONDON (AP) — British police say a critically ill 5-year-old boy whose parents took him out of a hospital against doctors' advice may be in Spain.

Ashya King, who has a severe brain tumor, has been missing since his parents, both Jehovah's Witnesses, removed him from a hospital in the southern English city of Southampton on Thursday.

The family was last seen on a ferry to France.

Assistant Chief Constable Chris Shead said Saturday the need to find the boy is now "desperate" to ensure he receives proper medical attention.

Police say they are working with Spanish police to locate the boy, who was likely to be in a wheelchair and is immobile.
