Child immunization rates up in South Dakota

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota's Health Department says a national survey shows that child immunization rates are up in the state.

State Epidemiologist Lon Kightlinger says more South Dakota preschoolers are getting immunized for pertussis, polio, rotavirus and other vaccine-preventable diseases.

He says that's good news but there's still work to be done, including increasing rates for older children.
