COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Supporters of the fired Ohio State University marching band director say they plan to show up in force for a meeting of the university trustees.
Dismissed band director Jonathan Waters still enjoys support among former band members and alumni. Many of them say they plan to show up at the university trustees' meeting Friday morning in Columbus to display their loyalty and call for his reinstatement.
University leaders are standing by the July 24 firing of Waters and said this week they won't revisit the issue.
Waters' dismissal came after a two-month university investigation concluded he knew about but failed to stop a "sexualized culture" of rituals that included partially-clad marching, groping games and sometimes explicit nicknames.
