Jury acquits Ohio pain doctor of 26 of 27 counts

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A jury has acquitted a northeast Ohio pain doctor of all but one of the 27 sexual misconduct counts filed against him in a case that centered on accusations he improperly touched 11 female patients.

Sixty-year-old Dr. James Bressi of Hudson was found guilty of one count of sexual imposition on Friday in an Akron courtroom. The charge is a third-degree misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of 60 days in jail and a $500 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 7.

He faced 13 counts of gross sexual imposition, 12 counts of sexual imposition and two counts of rape. Bressi testified at trial that he never improperly touched anyone at his pain clinic near Akron.

Bressi's attorney could not be immediately reached Friday afternoon.
