Put-in-Bay bar manager denies rape charge

PUT-IN-BAY, Ohio (AP) — The manager of a popular bar in the Lake Erie island resort community of Put-in-Bay has pleaded not guilty to raping a woman after a night of drinking.

Thirty-two-year-old Chris Blessing entered the pleas to two counts of rape on Thursday in Ottawa County Common Pleas Court. He and his attorney say the couple had consensual sex and that the allegations are false.

Blessing is the manager of Mr. Ed's Bar and Grill on South Bass Island. The Sandusky Register (http://bit.ly/XXSl90 ) reports that the woman claimed he raped her after she lost consciousness while drinking one night in early May. The charges came after an extensive investigation by a county sheriff's detective.

Blessing is being held with a $100,000 bond.
