St. Paul artist plans half-mile community banquet

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A St. Paul visual artist is planning a one-half mile long banquet for 2,000 people in the city's Frogtown neighborhood.

Minnesota Public Radio News reports (http://bit.ly/1AAA4wm ) artist Seitu (SAY'-too) Jones will host the meal Sept. 14 on Victoria Avenue. Public Arts St. Paul is working with area farmers to supply fresh produce.

Jones says he was inspired to create the event after watching neighbors buy groceries at the local convenience store. He says he hopes the meal will foster conversations about healthier food options.

Jones says he's hired a producer to coordinate art for the event and a choreographer to create movements for the servers.

Reservations are required for the free event and can be made through Public Arts St. Paul.
