CINCINNATI (AP) — An Ohio man accused of illegally having seven firearms, more than 200 rounds of ammunition and individual body armor has been sentenced to more than six years in prison.
Federal prosecutors say 41-year-old Shawn Jones was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati to six years and five months in prison. Authorities say Jones pleaded guilty in April to single counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of body armor by a convicted felon.
Authorities say the Cincinnati man had previous felony robbery convictions in Kentucky and Ohio. Federal law prohibits convicted felons from owning or possessing firearms, ammunition or body armor.
The public defender's office represented Jones and didn't immediately return a call for comment Wednesday.
