CHARDON, Ohio (AP) — The alleged drug dealer accused of selling a fatal dose of heroin to the father of a boy killed in a 2012 Ohio school shooting has pleaded not guilty to an involuntary manslaughter charge.
Prosecutors in Geauga County say 37-year-old Chad Riffett sold the heroin that led to the accidental overdose death of Russell King Sr. King was found dead at his home on Feb. 27 — the second anniversary of the shooting at Chardon High School that killed 17-year-old Russell King Jr. and two other students.
Riffett, who also is charged with corrupting another with drugs, and trafficking in drugs, pleaded not guilty during an arraignment Monday. He said he would hire an attorney.
Nineteen-year-old T.J. Lane pleaded guilty to the shooting rampage and is serving three life sentences.
