PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — State environmental officials say their weekly tests for West Nile virus and eastern equine encephalitis turned up negative.
The Department of Environmental Management on Tuesday released results for tests they did of mosquitoes trapped during the week of July 28.
They say they have found no mosquitoes so far this year with either West Nile or EEE. People infected with West Nile and EEE can get seriously ill.
The agency warns that mosquitoes in Massachusetts and Connecticut have recently been found with West Nile, and EEE has been found in mosquitoes in Massachusetts.
