EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — A 60-year-old man who was found in Lynnwood with a missing 14-year-old Snohomish girl is now accused of kidnapping.
Snohomish County sheriff's spokeswoman Shari Ireton says he met the girl in a restaurant, persuaded her to take the bus with him to a home in Lynnwood, threatened her and told her to take pills.
Ireton says the girl appeared uninjured when she was found Thursday, thanks to alert employees at a Lynnwood grocery store. Evidence from a hospital exam is still being processed.
Ireton says the girl is developmentally disabled with the mentality of an 8-year-old. She went missing Wednesday while bike riding near her home.
The man was initially arrested on an unrelated trespassing warrant and is making his first court appearance in the kidnapping case Friday afternoon.
