Police: Slaying suspect dead; 2 boys safe

DREXEL HILL, Pa. (AP) — Authorities in New York say the suspect in slaying of a woman in a Philadelphia-area home and father of two children taken from the scene has been found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say 32-year-old Keith Belajonas has been found dead Thursday in the sport utility vehicle on a dead-end street in Staten Island.

Police made the discovery shortly after an employee of a CVS on Staten Island told them that Belajonas dropped the children there early Thursday and then left, taking cigarettes and beer.

Pennsylvania state police had issued an Amber Alert for the children, and police in Upper Darby said he was considered a suspect in the death of 28-year-old Christina Belajonas, who had been found dead in the couple's Drexel Hill house several hours earlier.

Police in New York said the children appeared to be unharmed, but were taken to a hospital for examination as a precaution.
