Pedestrian killed by train in central Ohio

WORTHINGTON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in suburban Columbus say a pedestrian has been hit and killed by a freight train.

Franklin County deputies say they got the call just after 1:30 a.m. Thursday. The intersection in Worthington, on the north side of Columbus, was expected to be closed into the morning as deputies investigate. The southbound train remains stopped at the intersection, and traffic in the area was expected to be disrupted.

No other details have been released.

It's the second time in as many days that a pedestrian has been killed by a train in Ohio. A 53-year-old man in northeast Ohio was struck and killed by a passenger train as he walked to work along the tracks Wednesday morning, about 45 miles southeast of Cleveland.
