Ohio man killed in paraglider crash in river ID'd

QUINCY, Ohio (AP) — Authorities have identified the Ohio man killed when the paraglider he was piloting crashed into the Great Miami River in western Ohio over the weekend.

Sgt. Jeremy Clemons of the State Highway Patrol's Marysville post says 31-year-old Eric Giles (JEYE'-els), of DeGraff, was dead at the scene of the Saturday night crash near Quincy in Logan County.

Clemons says the crash was reported around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Clemons says the patrol and the Federal Aviation Administration investigated and determined that the paraglider struck the limb of a tree, damaging the left wing and the propeller.

Clemons says the ultra-light aircraft had a motor mounted behind the pilot.
