NEW YORK (AP) — A baseball fan has injured his arm after falling over a railing above an outfield wall before a game at the New York Mets' stadium.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Jarrett Parker says his team was taking batting practice at Citi Field on Saturday when he saw the man fall near him onto the warning track in left field. Parker says he saw a bone protruding from the man's arm.
The fan was identified by friends as Nick Gambacorta, and they said he was in his 30s. Joseph Piacentino III told The Associated Press that Gambacorta was on outing with local bus operators, supervisors and their families.
Piacentino says he was standing on a deck a few feet above the 8-foot wall, one person away as Gambacorta tried to get the attention of a Giants player.
The Mets released a statement saying a fan fell from the stands and was taken to a hospital. The team didn't provide additional details.
