Truck crashes into 'M-A-S-H' Ohio hot dog eatery

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a tractor-trailer has crashed into Tony Packo's, the Ohio hot dog eatery made famous on the TV series "M-A-S-H."

Police are still investigating the circumstances of the crash that occurred at about 7 a.m. Friday. The driver's name has not yet been released. No one was inside the restaurant at the time.

Toledo Fire Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld tells The Blade newspaper ( ) that there was significant structural damage to the front of the building.

No other details were immediately available.

Tony Packo's became a household name in the 1970s when actor Jamie Farr portrayed a homesick U.S. soldier in the Korean War who longed for Packo's hot dogs.

The original Packo's remains a tourist destination and is decorated with "M-A-S-H" memorabilia.
