Alabama man pleads not guilty in kitten killings

ATHENS, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama man accused of killing kittens he found on Craigslist says he's innocent of animal cruelty.

Ronald Fraser Golden pleaded not guilty to 22 cruelty charges during a hearing Tuesday in Limestone County.

A judge appointed an attorney for the 49-year-old Athens man, and a jury trial is set for Dec. 1.

Golden was arrested last year on charges of finding kittens on Craigslist and taking them home to kill them.

Athens police say they found blood-splattered walls inside a room in Golden's home while officers were responding to a call about kitten carcasses.

Police say Golden told officers he was "angry at the world." They say he searched the website for kittens that he would stomp, strangle or slam to the floor.

Golden is free on bond.
