Cleveland brothers charged in death of 17-year-old who stole dirt bike from their garage

CLEVELAND (AP) — Authorities say two Cleveland brothers used their cars to fatally hit a 17-year-old boy who they claim had stolen a dirt bike from them.

Tracy Philpott Jr., from the Cleveland suburb of Warrensville Heights, died Saturday at a hospital, two days after being struck by cars police say were driven by 24-year-old Aaron Trail and 28-year-old Alfonso Trail on Cleveland's east side. They have been charged with felonious assault.

A police report says Philpott brandished a gun when he and an unidentified male robbed the brothers of the dirt bike. Police say the Trails got into separate cars after hearing the dirt bike stall nearby, then found Philpott and hit him with their cars.

Both brothers posted bond Monday. It's unclear whether they have attorneys.
