CLEVELAND (AP) — A judge has sentenced a Cleveland-area doctor to a year in prison for charges alleging he trafficked in prescription painkillers.
Sixty-year-old Lorenzo Lalli of suburban Bay Village also was ordered to forfeit $220,000 at a hearing Tuesday. He pleaded guilty last month to three counts of drug trafficking and two counts of illegal processing of drug documents.
The Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County prosecutor's office says Lalli was charged after an investigation by a multi-agency task force, Cleveland police and the Ohio Pharmacy Board. Investigators found evidence that Lalli had illegally sold prescriptions for painkillers and other drugs.
A message was left Tuesday for his attorney. Lalli has forfeited his medical license and has closed his internal medicine practice on Cleveland's west side.
