SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — President Barack Obama is calling on Republican lawmakers to cooperate while complaining that they have "gone off the rails." He is also urging Democrats to get over their complacency and vote Republicans out of office.
The messages aim to cast Obama as being above the fray even as he embarks on one of his most intense fundraising sprees for the Democratic Party.
Obama said Tuesday that his problem is not with the Republican Party. He said, "The problem is this particular group that has gone kind off the rails."
Obama was attending at least six Democratic Party events over three days in Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Among Wednesday's fundraisers was one hosted by Shonda Rhimes, the producer of the ABC series "Scandal."
