2 Cleveland officers shoot suspect who pointed gun

CLEVELAND (AP) — Two Cleveland police officers shot a man they say pointed a gun at them.

A police spokesman tells WEWS-TV (http://bit.ly/1p5zAGB ) that it happened just before midnight Monday on the near west side of the city.

Police said the two gang unit officers were investigating two separate shootings that occurred late Monday. Officers began chasing a suspect they knew had a warrant. When the suspect pointed a gun at the officers, they shot him.

He was hospitalized and required surgery. The other suspect was taken into custody. The officers weren't injured. Police don't know if the suspects were involved in the earlier shootings.

No names were released.
