Man killed in single car crash in Ohio

STEWART, Ohio (AP) — The State Highway Patrol says an 18-year-old man has been killed in a single vehicle crash in Stewart.

Authorities say Michael Allen Rood of Stewart drove off the right side of a road and struck an embankment. His car went airborne before hitting a tree. It happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Rood was pronounced dead at the scene by the Athens County Coroner's Office. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The accident remains under investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
