CANTON, Ohio (AP) — Friends have raised more than $28,000 to benefit the family of a northeast Ohio woman critically injured when a rock was deliberately dropped from a highway overpass onto the windshield of a car in Pennsylvania.
Fifty-two-year-old Sharon Budd was hit in the face by the rock dropped onto Interstate 80 near Milton, Pennsylvania, on July 10.
The Repository in Canton (http://bit.ly/1p37LRZ ) reports girls from the Perry Local School District, where Budd teaches, fundraised through a lemonade stand, and thousands of dollars in donations were made through two online pages set up by friends of the family.
Budd has been at a Pennsylvania hospital and had surgery to reduce pressure on her brain. Her husband says she has started to wiggle her fingers and toes and respond to commands.
