Ohio patrol: Multiple cars involved in fatal crash

MARION, Ohio (AP) — A dispatcher for the State Highway Patrol says multiple vehicles were involved in a fatal crash on Ohio 423 in north-central Ohio.

The dispatcher at the patrol's Marion post says the crash occurred just before 3:30 p.m. Monday in Marion. The dispatcher could not immediately confirm other details about the accident.

Staff Lt. Ken Garloch with the State Highway Patrol in Bucyrus told the Marion Star that a car sideswiped another vehicle before continuing down the highway and hitting several other vehicles.

The newspaper reports that two cars ignited after they crashed, and city firefighters extinguished the blaze. Several people were taken to a hospital.
