Rep. Cicilline to discuss combatting homelessness

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — U.S. Rep. David Cicilline will meet with executives at the Mental Health Association of Rhode Island to discuss their plans to use a new federal grant to combat homelessness in the state.

The group has a program that provides housing and support services to dozens of chronically homeless people across the state who suffer from mental illness, substance abuse or both.

The organization received a $312,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Cicilline plans to visit the organization's headquarters in Pawtucket Monday.
