3 charged over wandering kids, filthy Ohio home

BLOOMINGBURG, Ohio (AP) — Three southwest Ohio women have been charged with child endangering after deputies responded to a complaint about unsupervised children along a street and returned them to a home where they found unsanitary conditions.

Fayette County deputies responding to the complaint Tuesday in Bloomingburg found five children ranging in age from 4 to 12. Sheriff Vernon Stanforth says the children provided their address, and deputies took them to the home, where the officers spotted trash and smelled something foul.

WBNS-TV in Columbus reports deputies found trash, rotten food and filthy conditions throughout the home.

The Washington Court House Record Herald reports deputies also located the children's parents.

Stanforth says a children's service agency removed the children.

WBNS reports three Bloomingburg women were charged and pleaded not guilty and posted bond Thursday.
