SUMMERTON, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina kids dealing with cancer are getting some encouragement from the Headbands for Hope Group.
The national organization is distributing headbands to 210 kids with cancer and their siblings at Camp Happy Days in Summerton on Thursday.
Lauren Athey, a development coordinator with the group, will distribute the headbands for the group that has distributed colorful headbands to more than 15,000 girls battling cancer nationwide.
Many children, particularly girls, lose self-confidence when battling cancer and the hair loss that comes from chemotherapy. The headbands come in various styles and colors and are comfortable to wear for children who have lost their hair because of cancer treatment.
