Father's Day vigil held for slain toddler

CLEVELAND (AP) — The family of a 2-year-old Cleveland boy killed last week — allegedly by his father — came together for a candlelight vigil to remember him.

Police say Derrice Alexander Jr. was fatally shot by his father on Tuesday during a domestic dispute between his parents. Derrice Alexander Sr. is now being held with a $3 million bond on a charge of aggravated murder.

WEWS-TV (http://bit.ly/1kFHd3Q ) reports that both sides of the boy's family came together Sunday for the vigil.

Family members say they hoped to let other young men know about the devastating consequences that can result when emotions and guns are involved.

They say they gathered in the neighborhood where the child was killed to comfort each other, not to show anger.
