Kiosk offers information on Ohio River byway site

MARIETTA, Ohio (AP) — Travelers along the Ohio River Scenic Byway can learn more about the river history at interpretive kiosks along the way.

The Wayne National Forest recently unveiled a kiosk at the Frontier Boat Launch site just north of Marietta in southeast Ohio. Another kiosk is planned this summer in Ironton, Ohio.

The 8-feet-tall kiosk unveiled Friday includes images and other informative content about the scenic byway, including recreation and tourism opportunities. The Ohio section of the byway is some 450 miles long across 14 southern and eastern counties.

The kiosks were paid for through a Federal Highway Administration grant, with assistance from Wayne National Forest and Ohio River Trails Inc. and development help from other federal, state and local partners.
