Tulsa Shock to participate in blood drive Saturday

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The Tulsa Shock is partnering with the Oklahoma Blood Institute for a blood drive this weekend.

Saturday's event will be at two locations in Tulsa — the Osage Event Center and Promenade Mall.

Shock players Odyssey Sims, Jordan Hooper, Theresa Plaisance and Vicki Baugh are scheduled to appear with Volt, the team's mascot.

Each donor gets two Shock tickets for the June 29 Legends Game against the Phoenix Mercury, a $10 Osage Casino Free Play voucher and two free admissions to the Tulsa Zoo, among other items.

The institute says anyone who is healthy and at least 16 years old can usually give blood. Donations can be made every 56 days.

Appointments aren't necessary, but can be made at (877) 340-8777 or visiting www.obi.org .
