Girlfriend of bombing suspect's friend to testify

BOSTON (AP) — Lawyers say the girlfriend of a friend of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-HAHR' tsahr-NEYE'-ehv) is expected to testify against another friend during his trial on obstruction of justice charges.

In a court filing Monday, lawyers for Azamat Tazhayakov (AHZ'-maht tuh-ZAYE'- uh-kov) asked the judge to instruct the jury on how to evaluate the testimony of a witness who has been given immunity by prosecutors. Tazhayakov's lawyers say Bayan Kumiskali, the girlfriend of Dias Kadyrbayev, (DYE'-us kad-uhr-BYE-ev) provided evidence under an immunity agreement.

The three men were friends who attended the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth.

Tazhayakov and Kadyrbayev are charged with removing items from Tsarnaev's dorm room several days after the 2013 bombing. The attack killed three people and injured more than 260.

Tazyahakov's trial is scheduled to begin June 30.
