Morris County couple accused of health care fraud

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Federal prosecutors have charged a Morris County couple who owned a mobile diagnostic testing company with conspiring to commit health care fraud.

Authorities say Nita and Kirtish Patel, both 51, of Rockaway, owned and operated Biosound Medical Services. Biosound technicians would travel to doctors' offices in New York and New Jersey to conduct diagnostic tests.

Authorities say about half of the diagnostic reports generated by the company in the past two years had a photocopied signature from a physician when no doctor had actually reviewed the results.

The Patels are each free on $100,000 bond.
