MENDON, Ohio (AP) — A head-on collision in western Ohio has killed an Indiana man and injured a family of five, including three children.
Twenty-six-year-old Adam Hamilton of Fort Wayne, Indiana was headed west on U.S. 33 in the village of Mendon on Saturday.
He tried to pass a tractor-trailer and entered the path of an eastbound car carrying a Fort Wayne family of five.
Hamilton and the other driver, 35-year-old Joshua Angel, tried to avoid crashing but both swerved into a ditch and collided head-on.
Hamilton died at Fort Wayne hospital.
Angel and his wife, 34-year-old Christine Angel, were flown by helicopter to the same hospital in serious condition. Their children, who are 4, 5, and 8, were treated and released.
The Mercer County Sheriff's Office says everyone was wearing seatbelts.
