Fox who bit person in Delaware found to be rabid

MILTON, Del. (AP) — Health officials say a fox that bit a person in Milton had rabies.

The Division of Public Health said Friday that the fox was caught and euthanized, and testing confirmed that the animal was rabid.

The department says the person who was bitten by the fox began treatment to prevent rabies on Monday.

Officials say the fox had been in a feral cat colony in the Route 89-Chestnut Street area of Milton. Anyone who had contact with the fox or feral cats should contact their health care provider or the department's Office of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at 1-888-295-5156.
