BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say an Alabama woman is dead after being shot at the autism center where she worked in Birmingham.
The victim's husband is in custody, but police haven't released his name or that of the dead woman.
Birmingham police say a man entered Glenwood Autism and Behavioral Health Center on Friday afternoon. He walked into an office area where he began shooting.
The man's wife was fatally injured but no one else was hurt. The man reportedly left the scene in a car with another person.
Authorities say police in Irondale stopped the victim's husband shortly after the shooting, and he's now in custody of Birmingham police.
There was no immediate word of charges.
