Ohio woman arrested after leaving 2 babies behind

CLEVELAND (AP) — A woman accused of abandoning two babies at a Salvation Army home in downtown Cleveland has been arrested in suburban Columbus.

The Northeast Ohio Media Group reports (http://bit.ly/1mFIbzP) that 31-year-old Alisha Houston was arrested Friday, two days after workers at the home say she vanished seven hours after arriving, leaving behind a 1-year-old boy and a 3-week-old girl.

It's unclear whether Houston is the babies' mother.

Police tracked Houston down to the Columbus area, where she was arrested on a felony charge of child endangerment.

Police say Houston is charged because she left the babies unattended and that a medical examination found one of them had been injured.

It's unclear whether Houston has an attorney.

The babies are with the Department of Children and Family Services.
