JOHNSTON, R.I. (AP) — A Johnston man faces marijuana and firearms charges after what authorities said was the discovery of a sophisticated marijuana growing operation in his home.
Rhode Island State Police said in a statement that the arrest of 54-year-old Vincent D'errico stemmed from a search warrant that had been obtained in connection with an undercover child pornography investigation.
While executing the search warrant, police said they found 25 marijuana plants and 15 guns.
Police said D'errico identified himself as a registered medical marijuana patient but police said the quantity of the drug exceeded amounts allowed under the state's medical marijuana law.
D'errico was ordered held without bail and is due back in court for a bail review on May 29. It was not known if he had retained an attorney.
