FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) — Police on Long Island say a fifth teenager has died following a head-on car crash in Farmingdale over the weekend.
Nassau County police say four of the teens, who range in age from 14 to 18, were initially pronounced dead following the crash early Saturday. A fifth teenager died Sunday night at Nassau University Medical Center.
Grief counselors were dispatched to Farmingdale High School on Monday to assist mourning students and staff.
Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/1jPxiwp ) reports that more than a thousand people attended a prayer vigil at St. Kilian's Church on Sunday night.
Police say the teens' 2001 Nissan crossed the center line and crashed head-on into another vehicle. Two people in a GMC Suburban SUV suffered serious injuries.
