ORRICK, Mo. AP) — The Missouri town of Orrick is cleaning up and assessing damage after taking a direct hit from an EF2 tornado.
EF2 means it had winds between 111 and 135 miles per hour.
The Saturday evening twister ripped up trees and yanked roofs off homes, but despite widespread damage no injuries were reported.
The National Weather Service says the tornado was part of a super-cell storm that formed over the Kansas City metropolitan area and continued eastward, spawning at least one more tornado that struck near the town of Marshall.
Schools in Orrick have canceled classes Monday and Tuesday, and next Sunday's Orrick High School graduation will be moved to a school in Excelsior Springs, about 15 miles north.
Orrick is a town of about 800 people approximately 25 miles northeast of Kansas City.
