HONOLULU (AP) — Authorities in Northern California plan to interview a 15-year-old boy who stowed away on a Hawaii-bound flight two weeks ago in order to determine whether criminal charges should be filed against him.

San Jose police spokesman Officer Alberto Morales said in a statement Tuesday that the department plans to work with the boy's attorney to set up an interview with the boy in the near future.

After the department concludes its investigation, it will consult with Santa Clara County district attorney's office and city of San Jose representatives to decide whether to file charges against the boy, Yahya Abdi.

Yahya is now in the custody of the Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children's Services.
