EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) — Police in northeast Ohio say a 6-year-old boy was in serious condition at a hospital after being shot in the head at close range.
It happened Sunday evening at a home in East Cleveland. Police Commander William Mitchell said the boy was shot in the forehead with a .38-caliber revolver from close range at about 6:40 p.m.
The Northeast Ohio Media Group (http://bit.ly/1sai1sH ) reports that the boy was responsive when medics arrived and was out of surgery early Monday.
Mitchell said a 47-year-old man was taken into custody as a suspect and is expected to appear in court Monday. His case likely will be bound over to the county grand jury.
An unregistered revolver was recovered at the scene, but police didn't release names or details about what happened.
