Court appoints attorney for Paul Walker's daughter

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A court commissioner has declined to dismiss a guardianship case over Paul Walker's daughter and has appointed an attorney to represent the teenager in further proceedings.

Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner David J. Cowan said Wednesday he wasn't comfortable with dismissing the guardianship case because of an investigator's report that detailed issues with Meadow Rain Walker's mother having custody of the 15-year-old. The report is confidential, and Cowan did not elaborate on the issues.

Paul Walker, star of the "Fast & Furious" film franchise, died in a fiery car crash in November.

Paul Walker's will calls for his mother, Cheryl Ann Walker, to serve as his daughter's guardian if he died. Cheryl Walker sought to have the guardianship case dismissed after reaching an agreement with Meadow Walker's mother, Rebecca Jo Soteros.
