MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont's Brattleboro Retreat has gone big-league in its field, ranking in the top 15 behavioral health providers in the country for the first time.
Modern Healthcare magazine based its rankings on net patient revenue in 2012 based on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Hospital Cost report data.
The Retreat's net patient revenue in 2012 was $53 million. Though not captured in the report, that number increased an additional nine percent in 2013.
After Tropical Storm Irene in 2011 closed the Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury due to flooding, the Retreat built a new, 14-bed unit to take patients sent their by the Vermont Department of Mental Health. That opened in March of 2013.
